Road Trip Apps that save you Money

Are you taking a summer road trip this year? We all know that gas prices are crazy these days and the longer your drive, the more expensive it becomes. But don’t worry! There are so many apps out there to help you save money on your trips! In this blog post, I’ll be sharing my favorite five apps for saving money on long car rides.

Gasbuddy

Gas buddy was the first gas price tracking app there. How it works is by people nationwide updating the price of gas at the gas station when they fill up. The prices are amazingly accurate, tens of thousands of people update the prices daily. You can even see when the price was last updated. When you open the app you will see a map of the area around you with little markers with the price of gas.

GasBuddy does have a free card you use and can earn up to 25 cents off per gallon. If you’re taking a long road trip that adds up!

GetUpside

GetUpside is like Gasbuddy but you don’t need to get their special card And they have pretty huge discounts at both restaurant and grocery stores

When you open up the GetUpside app you see a map with green dots that show the saving per gallon of gas. You’ll also see red dots for Restaurants, these discounts can be up to 40% cash back! The newest feature they have presently added (at least in my area) are blue dots for Grocery stores. Get this you can save 15% on your groceries too! Amazing, I love this app.

When you find a deal you want, you do need to select it, you then have 4 hours to make the purchase.

How they do this is by watching for your purchase at that location but you do not have to enter your full credit card number, only the first few and last few digits.

Check your credit card for deals

Some credit cards run deals where if you gas up at a certain brand store you’ll save $5 per $20 spent. Amex has these frequently, you just need to go in and select the discount and the savings will automatically be applied to your receipt.

Other cards have rolling categories that offer discounts. So make sure to check before heading out on your road trip this summer

Planning a road trip this year? Be sure to plan ahead and save money on gas. Gasbuddy is the best app for finding up-to-date prices at gas stations near you, but it’s not the only tool that can help you find cheaper fuel options. GetUpside offers cashback on purchases from various retailers like grocery stores or restaurants along with discounts on credit cards. If you’re looking for more ways to cut costs while traveling, be sure to check out which credit card has what type of perk (free checked bags are great!). Downloading apps like these could even make your next vacation more enjoyable! You won’t regret planning in advance when driving across the country
